Toby Higson
Coach and Founder of TLP
Coach

My Vision:
I am passionate about what I do and am highly value-driven in my approach. All my training/coaching follows my quality plan, and I transparently publish my feedback. I have spent my career in training and coaching (over 20 years) and I believe training should be dynamic, engaging and fun without ever losing sight of clear developmental goals. You need to know what you have achieved and where you are going.
I believe that powerful workshops focused on the unique context of the client can transform communication skills in a short space of time. For this to work I invest the time upfront to understand the needs of the client. I then create authentic scenarios in which you develop and practice the language and techniques that you really need. Crucially each workshop gives you a detailed template pack to take into your day to day working life.
Things I am proud about:
-
That I have built my own business in something I care deeply about and that I can make a difference to the people I work with.
-
I have delivered over 10,000 hours of training and coaching but I still get the same buzz.
-
That my clients are loyal and have stayed with me for many years and over periods of deep crisis such as Covid-19.
-
That I blend coaching and training. I am a certified coach with the International Coaching Federation and came top of my year group in completing my Post Graduate Certificate in Education at The Institute of Education, University of London
-
The feedback we get. I - together with the great trainers I work with - average well over 4.8 out of 5 across 10 quality areas, across 100s of corporate clients since I founded TLP in Luxembourg in 2013.
-
The rich diversity of my clients. My clients range from individual to large multinationals, and have included factories, banks, investment funds, law firms, European Institutions, IT start ups and universities.
-
That I can use my own business experience in my work. I started my career at Unilever as a fast-track graduate trainee, and then worked as a regulator in the UK’s Qualifications and Standards Agency before creating my own business in 2010.
-
That I published a book on what I do. My book 'Qualifications in the UK, How to make the right choices' (Rivington, 2011) explains how to judge the quality of courses and language schools.
